What Photography Means To me

When you think of photos nowadays, one normally thinks of the everyday selfie or an Instagram post of some famous person's lunch. Though photography can be so much more than that. Marvin Heiferman, in his article Photography Changes Everything, talks about how one can put their emotions or feelings into a single picture. It can change how not just the photographer sees things, but also what the viewers see. I agree with Heiferman on those points. To me, art and photography is a way to caption a moment or an idea. Giving me the chance to preserve it and then show it to others as a way of communicating my thoughts or emotions in a way other than words.
